Mighty Millipede

While the name millipede is latin for "a thousand feet", no one has discovered a millipede with more than 750 legs. This phenomenal specimen was found basking around rock springs near Orlando, Florida. Millipedes are ancient creatures dating back to the silurian period which was about 443 million years ago. The millipedes that lived back then were considerably larger than this one, which required a macro lens to get a good shot. The silurian millipedes grew to be over 2 meters in length!
